Lady Devils host Lady Dalers in Huntington
The Blue Devils of Huntington are under newly appointed Head Coach Beth Vogelsang. The Lady Dalers of Farmingdale working for long-time legend Tracy Weiner. The New vs. The Established.
The game was in the hands of Huntington for a majority of play. Midway through the second, the tide began to turn. A back and forth second created for a suspenseful finish. In the end, Farmingdale took and stayed in control.
The final: Farmingdale 8, Huntington 7.
Huntington Analysis
Huntington is well coached, discipline, and have some young talent. Newly appointed head coach, Beth Vogelsang has this team playing patiently on the offensive end and sound, fundamental defense. Super sophomore, Jordan Forte really impressed today. She finished with a couple goals, an assist, and multiple draw controls. Forte was all over the field, contributing equally on both ends. Abby Maichin had an #SCTOP10 goal stepping down from the 8 with a low to high rip top corner. Video on our @FLGLAX story. A big reason for Huntington’s success was thanks to junior goalie, Maya Santa Maria. Maya had 7+ saves in the first half alone. She’s a tremendous stopper with great poise in cage. Marissa Stafford impressed as well. Her versatility from the midfield gives the Devils a chance to run with the best of them. Overall, Huntington almost stole a W from a quality Farmingdale team. They are in good hands in the years to come and expect his young team to only get better.
Farmingdale Analysis.
Farmingdale plays a gritty style of play. They are scrappy on ground balls, aggressive on the defensive end, and really look for the best possible shot on the offensive end. The Dalers have a really nice attack unit. Kelly Bergersen, Riley D’Andrea, and Amanda Stoll work really well together. Berg and D’Andrea connected for the game winner with about 3 minutes left on the clock. Bergersen had a tremendous goal in the first half. After attacking the goal from outside the eight, she got doubled and released a shovel shot for a score. Stoll is great in the riding game and is cool under pressure. Erin Shimborske is Farmingdale’s do it all midfielder. She logged a ton of minutes for this gritty Daler team. Reilly Agres had a tremendous second half, sparking the team to come back after being down as many as four goals. If Farmingdale can secure more possessions on the circle, and execute on the offensive end, they could make a late season playoff push in Nassau Class A.

Massapequa v. Garden City @ Garden City High School
This game was hyped up, and it lived up to all the hype. It was a great battle between the top 2 ranked teams in the LILJ for Nassau County, and both of these teams wanted to prove they were worthy of the number one spot. Two historic programs going at it, punch for punch.
South Side v. Syosset @ Syosset High School
If you missed this game, you missed a very exciting back and forth game between two great teams in Nassau County. These two teams came out at full force in their first regular season game of the 2019 season. These two teams left all it on the field, and it was a very tough physical dog fight and emotions were running high as there were 10 penalties in the game.

String King Game of the Week – Hurricane Al
Week 1, the String King Game of the Week will feature two powerhouses in Suffolk County, number 3 Mount Sinai versus, number 7 Westhampton.
After winning 3 consecutive Class C New York State Championships, Mount Sinai came up short last season in the Long Island Championship to Cold Spring Harbor, who went onto to win the state title. How does a perennial powerhouse rebound from a heartbreaking loss in the 2018 Long Island Championship Game? “One game at a time”. That is how Head Coach, Al Bertolone described the approach for the 2019 Mount Sinai Girls Lacrosse team. The Mustangs are loaded with talent, starting with two time All- Americans, goalie Emily Lamparter (Maryland) and midfielder Jenny Markey (Syracuse). Depth at the midfield, Markey will be accompanied by Emma Tyrell (Syracuse) and Morgan Mitchell (Stony Brook). To round it off, Gabby Sartori (Brown) will be commanding the attack. But can the Mustang weather the storm?
Westhampton is very skilled and very experienced. With most of the starting line up playing together is PAL, the chemistry they have built over the years has truly grown into something special. Leading the charge for the Hurricanes is Boston College commit Isabella Smith. An impressive lacrosse resume thus far, Smith has been on varsity since 7th grade, earning herself Rookie of the Year. She has been named to the All- County multiple times, and was named All- American in 2018, when she was also selected to the USA under 19 team. Other key notables for the Hurricanes are Hollie Schleicher (Boston College), Lindsay Rongo (Stony Brook) and Kerry Dillon (Oneota)
With much success in previous seasons, Westhampton still has alot to prove as they have never secured a county title. However you bet that they will be bringing the storm. Mount Sinai, looking to get off on the right foot in their season opener, will have to ready for a battle.
When the thunder and lighting seizes and the rains go away, we will see who comes out on top. This match up will be one to watch. Looking forward to March 29th
Cold Spring Tops Harborfields in Nassau v. Suffolk Non-Leaguer
Caroline Debellis @carolinedebellis & Isabelle Vitale @isabellevitale were the 1 -> 2 punch that led Cold Spring Harbor towards victory today against a tough Harborfields squad.
#1 & #2 put on a show at Jim Amen Field as Debellis displayed her usual slickness around the crease by moving snivley (sneaky and lively) off-ball and netting a game high, 5 goals. She even cashed in on a beautiful BTB after scooping up a GB around the goal line extended. Her bestie Vitale hooked it up all game. Vitale dropped SIX! dimes 👛 on the day, finishing with two goals, including one absolute stinger 🐝 top left. The final score at Cold Spring Harbor was 10-5.
