FLG Coaches Feature: Lauren Lomonaco from LIU to FLG
FLG girl’s 2023 head coach, Lauren Lomonaco, also doubles as head coach for Syosset High School girls team. The CW Post grad is a Massapequa native and is also the assistant director of the girls program at the Long Island Lacrosse Academy. Lomonaco herself is an all-county and all-American player who hopes to pass on her wisdom and skills to the next generation of girls in the sport of lacrosse.

FLG Alumni Feature: Kevin Winkoff
FLG Lacrosse alum, Kevin Winkoff was a three sport varsity athlete at Cold Spring Harbor. Since graduating in 2018, Winkoff has made a name for himself among the Binghamton Bearcats’ Division I lacrosse program. The junior attacker appeared in all 13 games with 7 starts his freshman season before his sophomore season was prematurely cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.

FLG Coaches Feature: Joe Scavone
Joe Scavone is FLG Lacrosse’s 2026 Head Coach, but he also doubles as Head Coach of Portledge Middle School’s lacrosse team. When he’s not on the sidelines, he still finds a way to stay active, whether it’s in the gym or playing a slight game of pick-up.

FLG Committed Spotlight: Ben Bruno from CSH to Amherst
Cold Spring Harbor senior, Ben Bruno, has committed to play lacrosse at Amherst College next fall. The midfielder from Huntington is preparing to play his final high school season following the spring’s cancellation due to coronavirus. But until he can step back on the field again, let’s hear about his plans for becoming a future Amherst Mammoth.

FLG Coaches Feature: Carolyn Sumcizk-Morales
Carolyn Sumcizk-Morales enters her fifth year of coaching with FLG. She first began coaching following her collegiate lacrosse career at Marist, where she helped the red foxes to their first NCAA tounament. Now, she looks to continue with FLG’s 2027 Navy Team while doubling as Locust Valley High School’s varsity head coach.

FLG Alumni Feature: Kat Henselder the Bobcat’s Brick Wall
FLG Class of 2019 alum, Kat Henselder, had a great freshman season at Quinnipiac before it was abruptly cancelled due to the coronavirus. The goalie from Lindenhurst appeared in three games before the season ended early. Before becoming a bobcat, Henselder was a two-time varsity lacrosse captain at Lindenhurst Senior High School. She also ran cross-country and winter track.

FLG Committed Spotlight: Lauren Jablonowski on Attending USMMA
FLG senior, Lauren Jablonowski, has committed to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy next fall. The attacker from Levittown plays lacrosse, soccer and basketball at Island Trees High School. Now, Jablonowski plans to make the most of her senior seasons.

FLG Alumni Feature: Louis Perfetto’s First Season as a Terrier
FLG alum, Louis Perfetto, made a place for himself as a freshman at Boston University. The attackman from Manhasset talks about how playing high school basketball helped elevate his game from “X.” Starting in all six games of his shortened freshman season at BU, he’s even more ready to get back to the field this upcoming spring.

FLG Committed Spotlight: Will Spehr Multi-Sport Commit to Middlebury
Cold Spring Harbor senior, Will Spehr, has committed to play both football and lacrosse at Middlebury College next year. The midfielder from Lloyd Harbor, NY is a member of FLG’s 2021 team and plans to take his talents to Vermont in the fall.
