FLG Committed Spotlight: Kathryn Ehrlinger to Play at Dominican College

Kathryn Ehrlinger, Island Trees senior, has committed to play women’s lacrosse at Dominican College next fall. Ehrlinger plays goalie for FLG’s 2021 girl’s team and for Island Trees varsity. She says the sport has taught her not only skill, but teamwork and respect. After her junior season was cut short due to coronavirus concerns, Ehrlinger is ready to finish what she started last spring.

FLG Alumni Feature: Chris Gray goes from Terrier to Tar Heel

Chris Gray graduated from Shoreham Wading River high school in 2017 where he played varsity lacrosse and football. Just last year, Gray transferred from Boston University to the University of North Carolina for his junior season. Unfortunately, Gray’s junior season was prematurely cut short. Despite not being able to fully experience spring lacrosse as a Tar Heel, Gray is looking to make the most of his senior season.

FLG Coaches Feature: Former Seawolf Jessica Volpe

Jessica Volpe is FLG’s newest coaching addition for the girl’s 2028 team. After playing varsity lacrosse and track in high school, Volpe played Division I women’s lacrosse for Stony Brook. SBU has one of the best women’s lacrosse programs in the country. After graduating, Volpe began her professional career in the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League.  Now, the America East champion now fills the roll as FLG’s 2028 girl’s coach, and plans to instill skills she learned from legendary coach, Joe Spallina, into her own players.

FLG Alumni Feature: Erin Tucker’s Success at Brown

FLG Alumni, Erin Tucker from Centerport, has made waves at Brown University. Since leaving FLG and Harborfields, the Junior goalie started in all 15 games of her rookie campaign. She also started in all seven games of last year’s shortened spring season. Erin was a five-year varsity player at Harborfields high school and also played soccer and basketball. Let’s see what Erin has been up to in her third year at Brown.

Tess Ferguson, Baldwin High School senior attacker, has committed to play women’s lacrosse for the Ithaca Bombers. Tess has played varsity lacrosse since the eighth grade but unfortunately missed out on her junior season due to coronavirus concerns. Although she wasn’t able to play the breakout season she was prepared for, Tess is ready to make the most of her final season as a Bruin.

FLG Alumni Feature: Jack Tigh on Post-Grad Success, Juggling Pro Lacrosse and a Full-Time Career

FLG Alumni Jack Tigh balances playing at the highest level of lacrosse and a day job as an investment banker for Barclays. If that’s not impressive enough, the 2019 Yale graduate and New York Lizard, still finds time to train the next generation of players and prioritize an active lifestyle. Tigh credits much of his success on the field to growing up on Long Island and being a four-year varsity football and lacrosse player at Chaminade High School. One of his most favorite sport memories would be Yale’s 2018 NCAA Championship win over Duke. Tigh had three goals, and says the most rewarding feeling was seeing his parents happier than he was.

FLG Coaches Feature: Daina Catanese on Evolving with Lacrosse

FLG Lacrosse Coach Daina Catanese takes her experience from New Haven women’s lacrosse to her own sidelines. Her journey from midfielder to defense in college helped Coach Catanese to stress the importance of adapting to her own players. When she’s not coaching, Catanese works as a graphic designer and spends time creating her art or in the gym. For now, the most important part of coaching is adapting to the sports changes and evolution.

Locust Valley high school senior attackman, Luke Dellicicchi is taking his offensive talents to Brown University next fall. Growing up, Dellicicchi played ice hockey and reluctantly began playing in lacrosse in kindergarten.  By translating his ice hockey skills to the turf and prioritizing his academics, Dellicicchi made his way to the Ivy League.
