We want every family to be able to use this site, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, or a larger text size.
What we aim for
We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That is the standard we design and test to. We have not commissioned a formal third-party audit, so we describe this as our target rather than a certified result.
What we have done
- Every page uses proper headings and landmarks, so a screen reader can navigate by structure
- A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content
- All interactive controls are reachable and operable with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline
- Body text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background
- Touch targets are at least 24 by 24 pixels
- Images that carry meaning have alternative text
- Animation respects your operating system setting for reduced motion
Where we know we fall short
Some older documents and images carried over from previous versions of this site may lack alternative text or sufficient contrast. We are working through them. Video hosted on third-party services may not carry captions we control.
