FLG in 3D Summer Shootout Recap

On July 12th through July 14th, the FLG in 3D Summer Shootout took place at the beautiful Maryland Soccerplex in Boyds, Maryland. With over 100 + college coaches in attendance, these boys participating in the Summer Shootout gave their all in trying to showcase their skills in front of college coaches.  Some teams stood out more than others as the following teams were allowed to call themselves champions:

NYSRC Impact Players

On July 22nd through July 24th, the second annual New York State Regional Championship took place at Binghamton University. The best players from ADK, Central, Hudson Valley, Nassau, NYC, Parochial, Suffolk, and Western wanted to show why they are the best region in their respective grad year. All of these young adults showed why they deserve to play on this big stage, but some players really turned it up to another level.

NYLA FLG Boys 2020-2022 Recap

On Saturday June 8th, The FLG 2020, 2021,and 2022 teams competed in the NYLA Tournament at St Paul’s Recreation Athletic Complex in Garden City. With a ton of College coaches standing on the sideline, the FLG boys wanted to make an impression, and they did just that. When you play in these Summer tournaments, it’s not about the score, it’s about having fun and getting better, and the FLG boys followed that motto.

Shoreham-Wading River comes back from a 7 goal deficit to win their seventh LIC

This game was an absolute thriller. The Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks jumped out to an 8-4 lead at halftime, and were up 11-6 with 3:09 left in the third. Shoreham-Wading River would not let their season end this way after a huge upset victory against Mount Sinai. This is where the fun began.

Ward Melville beats Smithtown West in overtime for the Suffolk County Class A championship

Over the last couple of seasons, these two powerhouses have been up there as two of the top teams in not only Suffolk County, but Long Island. Going into the season, these were the top two ranked teams in Suffolk County. This hasn’t been the typical Ward Melville season as they had a couple of tough conference losses to both Northport and Smithtown East, but in their first two playoff games, they got their mojo back. From a Smithtown West perspective, they have been smooth sailing throughout the 2019 season. They were dominant the entire season, especially in the playoffs as they steam rolled Sachem East and West Islip, two very talented teams. The first time these teams played, Smithtown West was up 8-2 at halftime, but Ward Melville attempted to make a comeback late, but Smithtown West pulled out the victory, 11-8.

County Championship Winners

With the 2019 season coming to a close on Long Island, it is awesome season to reflect back on, and look on with excitement to the teams that came out victorious within the counties, headed onto the LICs and eventually to States. There has been games won by large margins, teams making noise and hanging onto to the moment, as well as upsets that are definitely worth remembering. However with all that aside, each Class was able to crown a victor! Check out to see all the Championship winners as well as the games that LILJ was able to cover and witness history in the making.

Shoreham Wading River stuns Mount Sinai in the Class C Suffolk County Championship

These teams played in the regular season in one of the most anticipated games of the season. Mount Sinai came out with a 14- 9 victory. Mount Sinai continued to run the table after that game for the rest of the regular season. They dominated everyone that was put in front of them, and they looked unstoppable. Shoreham Wading River on the other hand bounced back from that loss by winning 4 of their next 5 games, including a huge playoff victory over a tough Bayport team with an 18-9 score.
