Amelia Dupont, Trinity NYC

What is your name, high school, and position?

My name is Amelia Dupont and I play midfield at Trinity School in New York City.

What is your potential major you are interested in?

I have not decided what I want to study yet, but I’m leaning towards studying humanities.

What makes your game unique compared to other players?

I see the field really well and am able to “thread the needle.” I’m able to find and take advantage of opportunities that I see for myself and my teammates.

What has been your greatest lesson you learned in lacrosse?

Perseverance. When I was going into 8th grade, the club that I had always played for dropped their girls’ program. I bounced around for a while until I found another good fit with a club at FLG. I lost a lot of confidence during that time, and I had to learn how to pick myself up, dust myself off, and move forward. From this experience and COVID, I’ve learned not to take any opportunity or experience for granted and give 100% so that I know I made the most out of every opportunity.

What is your favorite lacrosse memory?

My dad is pretty busy, so he didn’t get to come to as many of my PAL away games when I was little. In 4th grade, he came to one of the games and promised that if I got a hat trick he would take me to dinner. I’ve always been more of a feeder than a scorer so I was nervous. I ended up scoring four goals that game and proved to myself that if I really wanted to do something I could. My dad followed through and I had a really awesome dinner that night.

What has been your greatest lesson you learned in lacrosse?

You not only need to be physically tough but mentally, controlling your emotions during the game is an extreme lesson taught even with other sports I’ve played. Not letting it affect my ability or play.

My favorite lacrosse memories are going to showcases and being able to form friendships and teammates with girls I’ve never met.
