Christian Michaels Director of Player Development

Christian Michaels joined the FLG Lacrosse staff in 2023 and currently serves as the program’s Director of Player Development. In addition to his director role, Michaels is the Head Coach of the FLG 2027 White team, Head Coach of the FLG 2029 Jumbos, and Associate Head Coach of the FLG 2031 team.

Playing Career

Christian enjoyed a decorated collegiate playing career at both the Division I and Division II levels. He began his career at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where he was a member of the 2020 & 2021 Retrievers men’s lacrosse team, before transferring to Molloy University to continue his career with the Lions.

During his four seasons at Molloy, Christian established himself as one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in program history. His accolades include:

• 2x USILA All-American (Third Team, 2025; Honorable Mention, 2024)
• 4x All-Conference selection (All-ECC First Team, 2025; Second Team 2022, 2023, 2024)
• 2025 ECC Goalkeeper of the Year

Coaching Career

Christian brings a player-first development philosophy focused on building lacrosse IQ, mastering the fundamentals, and developing skills that translate beyond the field. In addition to his work at FLG, Christian serves as an Assistant Coach for the St. Anthony’s High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse program — a nationally recognized powerhouse that has recently posted perfect, national championship-winning seasons — where he specializes in goalie and defensive development. He also is the Co-Founder of Supreme Lacrosse Academy, a Long Island-based training program dedicated to reimagining player development through a constraints-led approach.

Dawn Sachs Girls Director of Recruiting, FLG Lacrosse

Dawn Sachs serves as the Girls Director of Recruiting for FLG Lacrosse, bringing more than two decades of championship-level playing and coaching experience to the program. A two-time national champion as a player and a five-time Conference Coach of the Year as a head coach, Sachs provides FLG families with unmatched expertise in navigating the college recruiting process.

Playing Career

Dawn was a standout attacker at Adelphi University, where she helped establish one of the most dominant programs in Division II women’s lacrosse. Her playing accolades include:

• 2x NCAA Division II National Champion
• All-American selection
• 2003 NCAA All-Rookie Team
• Adelphi University Bachelor of Science, Physical Education and Health (2006)
• Adelphi University Master of Science, Health Education (2009)

Coaching Career

Dawn is entering her 14th season as the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Mercy University, where she has transformed the Mavericks into one of the most respected programs in NCAA Division II women’s lacrosse. She also serves as Mercy’s Senior Associate Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator, and Chief Academic Officer of the athletic department.

Under her leadership, Mercy has compiled a 139-79 overall record (.638) and a 60-24 mark (.714) in East Coast Conference play. Her program accolades include:

• 5x ECC Coach of the Year (2016 Co-Coach of the Year, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2025)
• 3x ECC Tournament Champions (2019, 2022, 2023)
• 4x NCAA Tournament appearances (2017, 2019, 2021, 2022)
• 9 consecutive ECC Championship appearances (2017–2025)
• 8 consecutive ECC Championship Final appearances (2018–2025)
• First national ranking and first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history (2017)
• Peak national ranking of No. 11 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll
• Developed multiple IWLCA All-Americans, All-Region selections, and ECC Players of the Year

Corey Winkoff Program Director, FLG Lacrosse

Corey Winkoff is the Program Director of FLG Lacrosse, the program he has led since 2011. A lifelong Long Islander and passionate advocate for youth development, Winkoff has built FLG into one of the region’s premier club programs by combining elite on-field training with an unwavering focus on character, education, and long-term player development.

Playing Career

Corey enjoyed a distinguished playing career at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a four-year varsity starter at attack for the Quakers from 2008 to 2011. He finished his collegiate career second on Penn’s all-time assist list with 95 assists and tenth all-time in points with 135. His accolades include:

• 2011 Team Captain
• 2011 Second-Team All-Ivy
• 2010 Honorable Mention All-Ivy
• 2010 & 2011 Team MVP
• 2008 Two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week
• Led the Ivy League in assists as a freshman (23)
• Finished eighth nationally in assists per game as a junior (1.92)
• 2011 North/South All-Star Game selection (Championship Weekend, Baltimore)

Prior to Penn, Corey was a three-year varsity letterwinner and senior captain at Cold Spring Harbor High School, where he helped lead the program to the 2006 New York State Class C title and the 2007 Nassau County Class C championship. A two-time all-county selection, he was later inducted into the Cold Spring Harbor Athletic Hall of Fame. He also lettered twice in football, helping his team capture the Long Island Conference IV title.

Coaching Career

Corey has dedicated his post-collegiate career to developing the next generation of lacrosse players on Long Island. In addition to leading FLG Lacrosse, he serves as an Assistant Coach for the St. Anthony’s High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse program — a nationally recognized powerhouse with recent perfect, national championship-winning seasons. He specializes in offensive and defensive development and brings an Ivy League attacker’s perspective to every age group he trains.

Lisa Christiansen, former USA goalie coach and long time collegiate/high school varsity coach, will train all our FLG goalies throughout the year. Not only will she offer exclusive on field goalie training, Lisa will run season goalie zoom sessions, connect our girls with alumni mentors from the program, and attend practices throughout the year to further develop our goalies.
