NCAA Division 1 Women’s Top Lacrosse Players from Long Island

An INSANE amount of talent coming from LI at the NCAA Division 1 Level. Some of that talent being right here in our backyards over at Stony Brook. LILJ looked at numerous criteria to select the players on this list. From stats and accolades, to academics and consistency, the players on this list have demonstrated all the qualities as to what it takes to be the not only the best from Long Island, but the best in the country.

1 Sam Appuzzo, Senior Attacker, West Babylon, Boston College

First ever lacrosse player to win the Tewaaraton Award at BC. Appuzzo was the All- ACC Attacker of the year and First Team All- ACC. An unbelievable 2018 campign, Appuzzo amassed 129 points.

2 Olivia Conti, Junior Defense, St. Anthony’s, Towson

First Team All- America and Tewaarton Award Nominee Conti led the CAA with 52 caused turnovers and ranked seventh nationally with 2.48 caused turnovers per game.

3 Katie Hoeg, Junior Attacker, Mattituck, UNC

A First Team All- America Selection, Hoeg led UNC with a career high and school record 89 points.

4 Jamie Ortega, Sophomore Attacker, Centereach, UNC

Posted what was likely the best freshman season in Carolina history with 86 points, Ortega was named 2018 National Rookie of the Year.

5 Lidsney Ronbeck, Senior Attack, Manhasset, FLorida

Second Team All- American selections, Ronbeck served as the team captain and led the team in goals with 65 and had 81 points on the year. One of 7 Gators to amass over 200 points.
